POSTCARDS: CUMBRIA AT PLAY, a collection of approximately 485 postcards and photocards in one album, thematically relating to early Tourism in the Region. The cards date from the Edwardian era / early 20th Century and feature some unusual and rare examples, Pastimes include Foxhunting, Fishing and Shooting including a rare card of the famous Allendale Wolf, Walking, Rock Climbing, skating on frozen Lakes, Bathing and Swimming, Beach Games (in full Edwardian attire) 'Pierrots' at Silloth, various Sporting activities including the 'Uppies and Downies Football match traditionally played in Workington at Easter, several Fetes, Pageants and Shows including Coronation Festival and Empire Day, Hotels and Camping. Publishers of the cards include Mayson Archive, G.P. Abraham, Herbert and Sons, Peacock Autochrome and Celesque, most cards are in good, very good or excellent condition.
