The Shadow was the first Rolls Royce to use a monocoque chassis, a response to concerns that the company was falling behind in automotive innovation. To date, the Silver Shadow has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce and it featured a 172 hp 6.2 L V8 from 1965 to 1969, and a 189 hp 6.75 L V8 from 1970 to 1980. Both powerplants were coupled to a Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmission. The car's most innovative feature was a high-pressure hydraulic system licensed from Citroen, with dual-circuit braking and hydraulic self levelling suspension. A two-door saloon (MPW) was introduced early in 1966 followed by a convertible in 1967.
Finished in Caribbean Blue with Tan Leather interior, this 1967 Rolls-Royce Mulliner Park Ward was previously the property of Freddie Truman OBE. It is believed to be one of only 606 built and is said to have had just five former keepers. The car has just had a full engine re-build, a reconditioned steering pump, new flexible brake hoses, reconditioned radiator and refreshed brightwork, including a new rear bumper. The body is in very good condition, having been recently resprayed and all mechanicals are said to be good. Offered with quite a few recent invoices, this MPW drives well and is a joy to own.
