AIRMAILS - ENV. EX THE U.K. TO UGANDA INTENDED TO BE CARRIED ON THE ILL-FATED THIRD EXPERIMENTAL EAST AFRICA SERVICE SOUTHWARD FLIGHT OF MARCH 1927: Env. ex Oxted (Surrey) bearing KGV ½d, 1d & 6d adhesives plus black/blue airmail label addressed to Kampala. Backstamped Kisumu (31 March) & Kampala (4 April) alongside red "KENYA-SUDAN/MR 31/27/AIRMAIL" cachet. The env. was intended for the Fairey III service to Jinja which was suspended due to a crash into Lake Victoria on the Northbound leg (12 March) & subsequently was carried by rail.
