THE AFTERMATH - VOLTIGEUR's LETTER EX BERLIN WITH RED "No.10/GRANDE-ARMEE" MARK; 23 Dec. 1812 EL (minor creasing) from "Berlin" (in the Garrison there) to Liege charged "8" with a mainly fine red "No.10/GRANDE-ARMEE" mark (filing crease) nicely placed on the front. The sender was "Jean Pierre Hencare[?], Voltigeur au 76eme R[egimen]t De Ligne, Bataillon Angereauron a Berlin ou suivant le Corps". This 76th Regiment was in the XI Corps that was formed in Bavaria and was in Russia in Nov./Dec. 1812 (Kovno, Vilna & Ozmiana, 18 Nov. to 12 Dec.); presumably it was now recuperating in Berlin. Well worthy of transcription and translation.Cross Reference: FRANCE, GERMAN STATES
