A 19th CENTURY FRENCH SHORT SWORD AND SCABBARD. With a 44.5cm pointed, double edged and double fullered blade finely decorated to both sides, on one with repeated decorative foliate ovals, the other with a trophy of arms beneath a soft cap, indistinctly stamped I & H SORB. The brass grip and cross piece unmarked, in brass mounted leather scabbard. This sword is similar to the French 1831 Pattern Artillery short sword but is smaller and lighter and has a finely decorated blade. 60cm overall. *CR Good condition, the blade with little rubbing allowing the decoration to be clearly seen.
