Dawn Warr (British b.1938) - during the 1960s Dawn Warr was apprenticed to a West Country Sculptor and became experienced in bronze casting techniques. In 1970s she was invited by this gallery to show a small group of related bronzes and in 1977 produced her first London solo show, again with the Alwin Gallery. The artists' love of the sea is often reflected in her work, taking inspiration from the varied forms to be found on shells, ripples in the sand and the movements of tides and currents. Movement and rhythm in form is stated simply, using the reflective qualities of polished bronze surfaces to enhance the fluidity of the shapes often the quintessence of dance movements.
Dawn Warr has a considerable body of work behind her and has completed a number of life-size commissions. Her work is in may private collections worldwide.
