£1,800
Thirty six Coalport dinner plates, mid 19th century, the blanks from moulds produced by Sevres, each piece polychromed enamelled with flowers and insects within a relief moulded blue and gilt foliate border, many pieces with registration lozenge for 1850, each 26cm diameter (36) (some with hairlines)
Previously on loan to the Coalport Museum (ref IGMT L0366)
Provenance: Wykey House
All pieces show the odd firing pit or frit, surface scratching and minor rubbing to the gilt highlights. The majority show some rubbing and wear to the decoration, which appears to be in most cases the result of stacking. Four plates show hairline cracks. One chows a chip to the rim. One shows a chip to the rim and stained surface crazing throughout. Two others show surface crazing throughout. Several plates are extremely dirty and all would benefit from cleaning.
