EDOUARD BALBUS [1813-1889]- 'Vues de Paris en Photographie', a rare album of 21 images, contact printed one to a page, each 19 x 29cm, album distressed. * Biography Edouard Baldus was born in Germany, emigrated to France as a student and made his mark as a painter before turning to the rapidly advancing art of photography in 1849. By the mid 1850s he was recognised as France's leading photographer of architecture and won government support for a national survey titled Les Villes de France Photographiees, commencing with the monuments of Paris.
