A Chinese Rhinoceros Horn Libation Cup with 4 Base Marks, 19th Century.
The exterior features a continuous scene of scholars in a mountainous landscape, nestled among pine trees and rocky outcrops, with masterfully detailed foliage and expressive figures in high relief. The natural curvature of the horn has been skillfully incorporated into the form, creating a flowing, organic silhouette. The interior displays the characteristic hollowed centre of a traditional libation vessel. Notably, the underside of the base bears four distinct incised marks.
