** BRISTOL (STAPLETON) P.O.W. CAMP COVER WITH MANUSCRIPT "Stapleton" TO FRANCE; 1 May 1806 EL (full typed translation; an appeal to the town council for news of the writer's parents) from Marine Artillery Sergeant Leonard Bronner in "Stapleton" [POW Camp], who states that he had been on Garrison duty in Martinique for 3 years before being taken prisoner on his return voyage to France on the ship 'La Torche' to Strasbourg; sent unsealed (as per censor's regulations?). With unusual (unique?) Manuscript "Stapleton" on the flap along with a small h.s. "21" (of Strasbourg?); charged "8[g] 10[decimes]". Sent by the London Transport Office via Falmouth, Morlaix and Paris. Very early cover from this POW Camp.
