** U.S.A.: American Sapphire Company, 100 shares of $10, 190[6], #586, miners at work, blue, not cancelled. Incorporated in New York in 1905 to work the sapphire mines at Yogo Creek, Philipsburg, Montana. A large deposit of the stones was discovered by gold miners in the 1890's and by the turn of the century the region was one of the largest producers in the world. Acquired by an English Company in 1914. EF.
