Early 18th century school - bust portrait of Margaret, Wife of Robert Ballard and daughter of Sir Phillip Jackson, unsigned but with various inscriptions verso, oil on canvas, 75 x 63cm, framed

Full inscription
'Margaret (1709-42), 4th daughter of Sir Phillip Jackson (1658-1724) of Richmond; she married 1733 Robert Ballard (1699-1782) of Southampton as his 2nd wife and had 5 children, of whom Robert (1737-94) was the father of Melicent, wife of John Butler Harrison (1739-67). This portrait came down in the Harrison family to Edward Cavendish, whose daughter Ann sold it to me in 1989' G C R Morris
