Oil on canvas relined 30 to 40 years ago or so, canvas remains tight and paint in very good clean condition, small punctured hole to the left of his shoulder, just below statue, possibly two very light surface scratches at the bottom of the red robes, housed in highly ornate carved giltwood scroll frame with some old faults and small losses, label verso for Haynes Fine Arts.
Small puncture hole (from behind) to the left of the sitters shoulder beneath the statue.
UV shows a fair amount of retouching throughout the work. Photos available.
