** PLYMOUTH - PRISON SHIP LE ST. NICHOLAS - LETTER FROM FRANCE TO P.O.W. BUT HELD IN PARIS P.O.'s "CABINET NOIR"; Fine 25 Nov. 1806 E (part of the contents remain along with strip of first page with dated heading; from the addressee's brother with family news etc.) from "Draguignan" to; "M. Antoine Boeuf, Soldat Prisonnier de Guerre a bord du ponton Le St. Nicholas en rade de Plymouth" with very fine "P.78.P/DRAGUIGNAN" on the front and the prepaid "15" rate on the flap, but with no Paris mark and clearly never delivered - letters posted just after Napoleon's suspension of Mail exchange from 21 Nov. 1806 are thought to have remained in the Paris P.O.'s Secret Office ("Cabinet Noir").
