A BEAUTIFUL LATE 19TH CENTURY SCHIEDMAYER GRAND PIANO, the German craftsmanship that went into creating his piece was of the highest quality. The serial number suggests a date between 1890-1900. The serpentine shaped body of the grand piano has raised scroll ended detail to the edges, above the keys is the maker’s name in bright inlaid brass lettering – ‘Schiedmayer, Pianofortefabrik, Stuttgart’. The top folds back on a long brass hinge revealing the floral and scroll worked music desk that rises. The top fully opens on a pair of large brass hinges to the left and rests upon an upright support, revealing the full workmanship to the interior. Raised on three large turned & carved legs and large brass castors really are an impressive sight to see, to the front is an open lyre shaped pedal support housing two pedals. The piano is in excellent condition, plays beautifully. There is some sun fading to the side that is placed by the window. Could do with tuning I’m sure but, as is it sounds warm and pleasant when played. Dimensions: 190 x 103 x 142cm (D x H x W) The height includes the glass carpet proctors beneath. Height without them approximately: 100cm.
