John Forbes (1714-1796). The Honorable John Forbes had a successful career in the Royal Navy, rising to become Admiral of the Fleet and also served as a Member of Parliament of Ireland Condition:The painting is an oil on canvas which has been relined. The canvas appears in generally good condition, no obvious holes or tears and the tension is fine. The paint surface has been cleaned and does present surface level craquelure but the surface appears stable. The frame has sound joints and some general wear and tear
