A late Victorian silver playing card box by Lawrence Emanuel, London 1899, of rectangular form with hinged domed cover and crocodile effect decoration, opening to reveal a compartmented gilt interior, enclosing two sets of miniature playing cards, case 5.7cm high, weight (excluding cards) 2.03ozt

Some denting to the highpoints of the scales, and some wear to the scale decoration, mostly to the cover. No splitting or signs of repair. Cover opens smoothly and closes flush. General scratching, wear and tear to the exterior commensurate with age and use. Moderate wear to the gilt interior, particularly were the cards meet the base, and general scratching, wear and tear. Some cards do appear to be missing from the set.
