GB. COVERS & POSTAL HISTORY 1863 POSTAL NOTICE / REGISTERED MAIL. "CAUTION. The Post Office cannot undertake the safe transmission of valuable enclosures (Coins, &c.), in unregistered letters. So sent, they are exposed to serious risk, but when registered they are practically safe. / The fee for registration on Inland letters has reduced from 6d to 4d. General Post Office, December, 1863." Rare, and in nice condition. We currently see the same notice for sale at £1200 with a leading dealer. Lot 1890 (M) [c]
