£80 - £120
An India General Service Medal 1908 with two clasps ‘Mahsud 1919-20’ and ‘Waziristan 1919-21’ named to: 264 L-NK Ghuman Ram Signals. (Lance Naik, equivalent to Lance Corporal). This is an early example of an award to the embryonic Indian Signal Corps which was created in 1911 as the Indian Signal Service. It expanded rapidly during the First World War, serving in France, Mesopotamia and Palestine, and In 1920 became the
Indian Signal Corps, with British officers and other ranks from the Royal Corps of Signals serving alongside personnel of the ISC. Later campaign medals were
named to the ‘ISC’ rather than ‘Signals’.
