Nathaniel Voyce (1705 - 1770) of Mitcheldean, mid 18th Century oak longcase clock the square hood with glazed door flanked by turned columns with brass caps, over narrow case with long door, lockable with later ornate brass escutcheon, inlaid with six pointed star, supported by a plain base on bracket feet. The 30 hour movement, striking on a bell, with a brass 10 inch dial scumbled centre surrounded by polished brass chapter ring with Roman numerals and ornate cherub and crown spandrels. Height 194cm, width 45cm, depth 24cm. Nathaniel Voyce is a well-recorded maker from a large family of clockmakers, started by Gamaliel Voyce in the late 17th century, who worked in Mitcheldeane, Gloucestershire.
