A single line train staff, MIDDLETON TOP-HOPTON TOP, from the Cromford and High Peak Railway which opened in 1831, the original route running from Cromford to Whaley Bridge. This section, between the Hopton and Middleton inclines was situated west of Cromford and was the first section of the route to close in 1963. Engraved brass, with wooden handle, overall length 19¾".
