Grigoris Lambrakis - (Roads of Peace) 2nd Marathon Peace March Tribute booklet (in Greek). Grigoris Lambrakis (1912 – 1963) was a professional athlete in track and field who participated in the Greek Resistance during the German occupation. After the war he remained politically active in the pacifist movement and was elected to the Greek parliament in 1961. In 1963, the police arrested organisers of The First Pacifist Rally from Marathon to Athens and the event was banned. Taking advantage of his diplomatic immunity, Lambrakis marched alone with a banner and was also arrested. The following month, Lambrakis was attacked, and died five days later on May 27, 1963. In 1964, the 2nd Marathon Peace March commemorated Lambrakis’ death and drew supporters to walk the 42km between Marathon and Athens. This publication commemorates the peace march and proposes a third peace march 40 pp. 28.5cm x 27.5cm.
