A mixed group - A Second World War United States Army Air Force Type B-6 flying helmet, named to 'MEADORS V.C and indistinctly numbered '15067443' (no ear cups etc); sold together with a civilian-made 1960s sheepskin so-called 'Mark VI' flying jacket, probably made in Britain (poor condition to rear), and a pair of Second World War MT / DR dispatch rider goggles (3) Provenance: Vernon Clay Meadors was born in 1920 in Kentucky and enlisted with the Army Air Force in August 1941. Newspaper articles state he left the San Antonio Air Cadet Training Centre for flight training school in September 1942. He died in 2013.
The leather jacket is heavily worn and has some holes to the rear.
