(1845) "We hear and see heavy guns firing at intervals on shore, but as affairs are managed at present, Montevideo pay be besieged for a century...There is a cricket club established in the squadron..."! Plus (1847); "...[drawing of the coast and Rat Island] The Blanco horsemen would occasionally ride round the foot of the hill and murder everyone they came across... but since the armistice we can venture there...
