A bronze ship's bell engraved , William of Jersey, , also engraved to rim with maker's name , Mears London, , 19cm. diameter, 19cm. high. *In 1818 Thomas Mears took over the East London bell-foundary on the corner of Fieldgate Street and Whitechapel Road, which remained Mears until 1868. This dates the bell to 1818-1868. There were two Jersey owned ships called William built in the 19th century, so conceivably it could have come from one of those.
