Archibald Ledger Gault Scott was born on 23/07/1867 in St Johns, Antigua, West Indies, the 2nd youngest of twelve children of John Scott, a planter, and his wife Harriett. He joined the City of London Police in 1891 and was still serving with them until at least 1913. He married Alice Everitt in 1897 and they had two sons and a daughter.
