'Royal Restormel Iron Mine, Lostwithiel.' Data for RCAA (?) Report Restormel Iron Mine Sections, hand traced cross sectional corrected to 1869 with additions from December 24th 1880, showing the levels of Barn Gate, Watergate and Taylor's, approx 84cn x 167cm; With hand traced plan, 1 inch = 10fms, surveyed Dec 1849, approx 84cm x 207cm; With other traced surveys and photocopied maps of the area. Restormel Iron Mine was originally called Trinity Mine and is where Philip Rashleigh obtained fine specimens of crystallised goethite. From the estate of Ron Hooper, M.V.O., A.C.S.M., F.I.M.M. Born in St.Agnes, he graduated from Camborne School of Mines. After a short career mining in the Gold Coast of Ghana he joined the Camborne School of Mines, eventually becoming Senior Lecturer in Surveying. At the same time, he acted as an independent mining engineer and was appointed mineral agent for several Cornish estates including the Duchy of Cornwall, Tregothnan, and the Godolphin Estate (amongst others).
