A rare German architectural gilt polychrome painted porcelain cup and saucer, 19th century. Possibly by Meissen or Dresden with ‘AR’ Augustus Rex marks in underglaze blue. Modelled with corinthian columns to the corners, an angular handle and a stepped and pierced cover mounted with a griffin finial. Finely painted with gilt banding and highlights throughout depicting a variety of rural figural scenes. 4.9 in (12.5 cm) height.
Condition report: Light surface wear with age. One wing to the griffin professionally restored. UV checked.
