Star Lot : An original Fidelma Flanagan acrylic on canvas board painting titled "The Quartet." Features an abstracted composition of figures playing string instruments, achieved through a contrasting palette of blues and oranges. Signed bottom right and housed in a smart pine frame. Oisín Gallery framer's sticker to verso. Flanagan has a strong auction history with works selling into the early hundreds.
A native of Dublin, Fidelma Flanagan has been interested in painting from an early age. After studying both watercolours and oils, she discovered a preference for the rich colours and textures that she found could only be produced with oils. She has developed her own personal style which could be described as a mixture of abstract and impressionism. Her paintings, depicting musicians, racehorses and misty still lifes have found homes in many corners of the world. The paintings of musicians in particular seem to capture the very sound of the orchestra as if the viewer can actually hear the music through the movement of the paint.
