DEHLI - RARE EARLY INGOING FREE MAIL FROM SCOTLAND WITH LONDON BOXED CROWNED "FREE" D.S; Fine 2 Jan. 1833 EL franked from "Inverness" (faint black cds on the front) to "Dehli, E[ast]. I[ndies]." and franked by "R. Grant" (Sir Robert Grant, 1780-1838, an East India Co. Commissioner from 1830 to 1834 and so with the rare franking privilege to India). There is a very fine London crowned "FREE" transit d.s. (7 Jan.) and a mainly fine matching strike of the rare chamfered-box framed London Ship Letter Office "FREE" d.s.
