The Corgi Toy Collection, Lots 1 - 155; exceptional and excellent Corgi die-cast models, many ex-shop stock from an internationally important collection Constantly refined and upgraded over the years, it is the overall quality of this collection that really stands out. Not only in terms of models, but also in terms of boxes and original packing and accessories. To try to put together such a collection today, particularly one which excels on so many levels, would be almost impossible. Seasoned Corgi collectors may be familiar with the name Mike Rooum. Mike was something of a visionary in the world of obsolete die cast, in so far as he had the foresight to buy up unsold stock from various retailers in the 1970's. Most of these had never been taken out of the box, let alone played with. A number of these truly extraordinary ex shop stock models make up about 60% of the collection. In terms of condition they must easily rate amongst the best examples available anywhere. Many of the other superb examples in the collection were sourced internationally from as far a field as France, Belgium, and the USA, others closer to home, some being original sales samples carried by a Corgi rep. in the early '60s. The collection contains many rarities including the US Army Tanker and Land rover; Milk Tanker, and Mobilgas Tankers not only in S Type Cab editions, but also in the later and harder to find TK Cab versions; Saint's Volvo, and an equally outstanding Volvo saloon in very rare pink colour way; Fiat Jolly in rare metallic blue and an absolutely stunning example of the Wall's Musical Ice Cream Van, 100% complete, with all leaflets, inner packing, stickers, and even working chimes. Rarity, desirability, and condition; possibly one of the finest high quality single owner Corgi collections ever to be offered at auction. Corgi Toys 153A Proteus Campbell 'Bluebird' record car, light blue body, U.K and U.S.A flags to nose, metal hubs, boxed (yellow and blue cardboard box) Condition report - Excellent and exceptional condition, the paintwork is immaculate, the box is crisp bright and clean with all flaps, usual slight paint rubs to wheel arch tips from the very tight original box; virtually inevitable with this model. Multiple high resolution images of individual models are available directly from Sean Devitt at Bamfords. Alternatively go to www.the-saleroom.com/bamfords
