Clare WHITE (1903-1997) Mlincici water mills near Jajace, Bosnia and Herzegovina Watercolour, 38 x 50.5cm. St Ives artist and fiercely independent traveller Clare White chose less-well-trod tourist routes to the Balkans in the 1950s / 1960s and captured truly beautiful snatches of life here in her usual relaxed style which was sensitive to the light, landscape and local ambience of a place - and always discernible in her paintings. Here, she presents her view of the unique Mlincici water mills near Jajce, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, part of Yugoslavia at her time of visiting.
