DIEGO MARADONA 1986/87 MATCH WORN AND SIGNED #10 NAPOLI JERSEY
Very few athletes are revered to such a level as Diego Maradona is by his fellow Argentines. The diminutive forward established himself as a national team talisman, culminating in the divine "Hand of God" goal he netted in the 1986 World Cup quarterfinals against England (nor should we forget the "Goal of the Century" later in that match, that wound up being the game-winner). So it's easy to forget the contributions Maradona made outside of his national team duties; indeed, "El Pibe de Oro's" club career took him across two continents, winning titles with FC Barcelona and SSC Napoli.
Presented is a rare SSC Napoli red jersey used by Diego Maradona during the 1986/87 season. Across all competitions, Maradona made 41 appearances while scoring 17 goals as the club's star Argentine helped bring home the first-ever Serie A league title for Gli Azzurri. The red knit pullover jersey features Maradona's iconic number "10" in tackle twill. An SSC Napoli embroidered patch rests on the jersey's upper right chest opposite the Nicola Raccuglia "NR" sportswear logo on the left. The Italian food company "Buitoni" advertisement wordmark is painted across the jersey's chest which can be seen from inside the jersey. The jersey exhibits evidence of moderate use. Sized G. The jersey was also signed by Maradona with a black marker.
