The Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy, inscribed 'Charles R. Woods, Liverpool, 28th June 1923', to include original presentation box and a copy of Mr Woods' newspaper obituary, the medal was awarded to Woods for his ceaseless war against disease, Mr Woods was a radiographer in a period in which effective protective equipment during X-Ray procedures was not properly introduced, as a result Mr Woods lost many of his fingers and parts of his head and face during his career, despite numerous pleas from doctors, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of helping others. The medal was designed by Richard Reginald Goulden and is a solid bronze example, D 9cm
