Pair of Parisian mother of pearl shibayama lacquered opera glasses, decorated with exotic pheasants, peony and bamboo, width 10cm
The metal on these glasses is aluminium. The lenses are good. There are some losses to the gilt decoration, particularly in the leaves of the bamboo (see image) and other areas of fine detail, for example, the legs of the birds (see images to illustrate the losses).
Elsewhere minor surface scratches consistent with age. No maker's marks.
