A George III oak longcase clock, 30cm arched brass dial inscribed Blackett Wallace, Brampton, Roman and subsidiary Arabic numerals, date aperture, 30 hour movement striking on a bell, the case with swan neck pediment and dentil apron, shaped rectangular door to waist flanked by reeded quarter-columns, bracket feet, 234cm high, c.1780 Blacket Wallace was working in Brampton, Cumberland, 1752- 1780. He was born there in 1731 and was apprenticed 1745-1751 before marrying Isabella Atkinson in 1753.
