JOSEPH O'CONNOR COLLECTION
A original acrylic on board painting by Joseph O'Connor titled "The Footballer" dating to the 1960s-1970s. Features a footballer in his bright red jersey, stadium behind him and leg outstretched as if to kick the ball. The work is rendered in O'Connor's usual expressionist style with heavy lines and block colours. After his move to London O'Connor began to specialise in sporting subjects such as football, horse racing and cricket. Housed in a dark tone frame with artist's signature to verso. Work's of similar subject matter by O'Connor have previously fetched €220 at Irish auction.
