A fine 18th century flame mahogany eight day striking longcase clock by James Scholefield of London, the hood with ormolu mounted reeded columns, pierced latticework sides, and acanthus cornice, the dial with silvered chapter bearing Roman numerals, subsidiary second dial and ornate spandrels, the case with crossbanded inlay and ormolu mounted reeded quarter columns, over a stepped plinth base on bracket feet. Includes two brass bound weights, pendulum and winding key. Dial measures 11”. Total height 8’ (242cm).
H242cm W51cm D25cm (approx).
Condition report: Losses to central latticework pediment, some cracking to case veneer. Movement is a later replacement.
