A VERY GOOD QUALITY IRISH MAHOGANY REVOLVING ‘RENT’ TABLE, with tooled leather inset to the top, four drawers are found the frieze beneath each with a turned brass pull handle and finished with ebonised string inlaid edging. The revolving top sits upon a short turned column support and four down swept reeded legs with brass lion paw feet on castors. ‘Rent’ tables get their name as they were used by landlords, the tenant would enter the landlord’s office and place their rent into the drawer and the landlord would turn the table to bring the drawer to him as he sat at the other side. Today they make for fantastic centre tables. Dimensions: 30 inches tall x 40 inches wide.
