** The artist was born in Exmouth and is renowned for painting pictures of prize racing pigeons, however he also painted landscapes and figurative objects exhibiting at various places in Bristol. The artist was also a racing pigeon enthusiast and acted as a judge at various shows. The painting of the Lavender Girl which Andrew beer is said to have produced at the age of approx. twenty-five has always been in the artist's family, the artist also had a fine tenor voice and was first tenor in the St. Thomas Parish Church choir, Bristol

In original unlined and unrestored condition, the work has dirt and discoloured varnish to the surface of the canvas with some spots of gold on the surface, it is also contained within its original ornately decorated gilt plaster and wooden frame, probably dating to the late Victorian/early Edwardian era.
