WWII Spitfire Mk Va memorabilia, mounted on a board, stating that the bits were collected from a crash site.
WWII RAF Spitfire MkVa P8438, 133 Eagle Squadron, flown by P/O S.F. Wedon, 101462 RAF VR, 3/4/1942.
P8438 P/O Samuel Fisk Whedon successfully deployed his chute, but died from his wounds on landing, collided mid air with P/O William Albert Arends, P8595, nr Epworth, Lincolnshire. Arends later was lost on fighter sweep to St. Omer in Spitfire Vb EP168. On the return, attacked by a half dozen Fw190's. Managed to take one with him before succumbing to the odds. Killed in Action (KIA) 20-6-42.
