Jesson, Birkett and Co for Ruskin Pottery, a copper mounted claret jug, circa 1905, flared bulbous form with bisected coiled tendril handle and two bands, the planished lid with soled strap thumbpiece, brown glazed body painted with a band of grape vines, 26cm high Note: Birmingham metalworked Jesson, Birkett and Co., took over the patent for copper patination developed by Llewelyn Rathbone, and later adopted by A E Jones. See Atterbury, P and Henson, J, 1993, Ruskin Pottery, p.65 for an illustrated example of a similar jug of the same shape.
