A 17th century Italian poker work allegorical maritime carved walnut panel. The rectangular panel, circa 1600 - 1650, originally from a Cassone (coffer) depicting Candour, Honesty and Mercy flanking a tall sailing ship being blown by an Eolian head in the clouds. Old notation verso describing the depiction incorrectly identified as Bristol, England. Measures approx. 59cm x 31cm.
