T RULES PATENT MINERAL WATER BOTTLE. 6ins tall, aqua glass. A most extraordinary & unique patent design comprising a stumpy base embossed one side T RULES/ DURHAM/ 2/ PATENT/ WINE GLASS BOTTLE, to other REGISTEREDTRADE MARKE (entwined initials) DURHAM AERATED WATERS. The patent specs declare SEALED WITH ANY SUITABLE STOPPER, in this case a Sutcliffe type. Only three examples were ever found - one complete (in the Peter Savage Collection), this example (with professional top cup section restored), & the third still as found. The cup like patent top supposedly acted as a tumbler from which to conveniently hold the fizzy contents at picnic or race meetings - far posher than swigging out of the top of a conventional bottle! A very short lived, inefficient & bad, design. An important, once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire the balmiest patent ever!
