A Royal Navy green glass Lime Juice bottle: stamped with broad arrow mark, together with a P&O coffee cup by Ashworth Brothers and two liner and yacht club related glasses. *Notes- The benefits of citrus juice in preventing scurvy were observed by James Lind in the 18th century and the disease was almost eliminated from the Royal Navy by 1800. The problem persisted within the merchant navy in the first half of the 19th century until the 1867 Merchant Shipping Amendment Act which brought in compulsory administration of lime juice under supervision.
