KING'S LYNN; 1803-04 LYNN/DATED COVERS: Three examples of the very scarce mark LYNN/dated marks. This type of dated mark was first issued in the Caribbean to stop marine insurance fraud. Seven UK ports also had them and Lynn is the rarest (BCC Rarity G); 1803 EL v.fine - superb LYNN/14 DEC 1803 to Wymondham re brandy, port, etc sent 5 Dec; Too Late E with posting and despatch date under inked but readable LYNN/OCT 8 1803 & LYNN/OCT 9 1803 (note reverse order of date month/day); 1804 EL with under inked but clear LYNN/17 SEP 1804 to Feltwell.
