A late 19th century 9 inch radius vernier sextant, probably by John Parkes & Sons: the black finish triangular frame with silvered arc calibrated to 150° with traces of inscribed name beneath, vernier arm with magnifier, fitted sighting scope, mirrors, shades and ebonised handle, together with accessories in a fitted mahogany keystone case, label to underside of case for 'John Parkes & Sons', the case 12 x 33 x 28cm.
