The artist, her son William would paint his brother Howard and several important figures of the day, and stands as a lynchpin in the late Edwardian style of the likeness shrouded in velvety dark tones.
The painting belonged in the family of Henry Rushbury R.A., a friend of the artist, including his daughter and son-in-law the royal portrait painter Theo Ramos.
