Provenance: London, Christies South Kensington, March 21st 2013, lot 88 (when it bore a signed and inscribed label verso)

* The artist was born in West Yorkshire and studied at the Royal College of Art 1937-1940 under John Nash and Edward Bawden. He experimented with different formats and presentations (finely crafted boxes were a speciality) and the Crucifixion theme was a recurring motif in his oeuvre. *CR Needs a clean; some elements with minor surface brazes/abrasions.
