A Burmese, Shan States style carved gilt decorated Buddha, probably 19th century, the carved wooden figure with extensive gilding over a black lacquer ground, remnants of red pigments to the base, the figure seated in dhyanasana, his hands in bhumisparsa mudra, on a high, waisted base and wearing a crown with large, feathered ornaments and finial, 25¼in. (64cm.) high.
